Cloudesley Association Update

1. Dowrey Street Site

It seems that the demolition of the school building has commenced.

The council has confirmed that the builders are due to send out another newsletter (in fact they said it was coming last week), updating us on progress and what comes next - we were hoping to attach it to this update but it doesn't seem to have been distributed yet.

We are also trying to get hold of the details for the site manager and will update you next month with this information.

In the meantime, please do let us know if you are having any issues with the development.

2. The Church

Camilla Gersh has updated us on the status of the church and has once again confirmed that the Church of England are definitely planning on restoring the building, and probably doing some development work. The nature of this development will include the provision of additional community facilities and will definitely not be residential. They are in talks with several different charitable organisations about a cooperative venture for the building and the local parish, the Barnsbury Team will definitely have a presence. The Churches Conservation Trust are involved as project managers for the fundraising and repairs/development project and are putting together some business/project plans and legal agreements, as well as cost projections and design briefs, in the coming weeks. The timing of the project is slightly dependent on the current residents, the Celestial Church of Christ. Hopefully they will also be keen for our beautiful church restored to its former glory as soon as possible.

If you would like an opportunity to see the inside of the Church, the local elections will be taking place there next week so there is another reason to go ahead and vote.
